A Day in the Care of Life

Life. It is such an amazing, complicated journey! Full of experiences, emotions, confusion, and - all too often - struggle. The older I get, the more I have come to feel that we are missing the whole point of being alive on such a beautifully astonishing world. What if we have the whole experience all backwards? What if, instead of striving and worrying and competing, we discovered a better way of living? One that didn't need us to prove anything; one that didn't need us to achieve anything; one that didn't demand we follow, obey, protect, destroy.

What you will find here is just one woman's journey to discover if, just maybe, everything on this planet was meant to evolve past mere survival at any cost - and we have somehow just lost the tools to unlock a life of wonder, of appreciation, of curiosity.

About My Work

I experience the world through a visual and emotional connection. To me, life comes down to noticing how our emotions affect the way we engage with the Universe and how our world’s emotions impact the landscape. We are all joined together by shared experiences, and this is what I endeavor to show in my work. It feels like we need more positive, happy experiences in our daily lives - so I work to combine designs and colors that feel joyful and inspiring, yet for the most part remain light-hearted.

Some people write books. Some people create music. People like me create pictures. In the effort and the desire to speak to the human experience, we are sending out messages of hope, love, compassion, and comfort. I think this is true whether the works we create are "high art" or not. There is someone out in the world (maybe you?) who is looking for a moment of light, a breath of air, a reason to laugh or smile or pick ourselves up and take the next step through our day.

Those are the people I think of when I create pictures. (I'm secretly pretty sure that every single human being is that person at some point, right? Money and power and influence don't shield us from being human, as hard as people try to believe that.) In everything I do, I am sending out silent wishes for all beings to be happy, healthy, surrounded by love, and at peace (and by all beings, I include everything on this dear planet: rocks, plants, water, air ... all the infinitely small/large stuff that makes Earth so amazing).

About Me:

As for me, I come from a family of creatives - people who explored and shared and used their curiosity to make wonderful things, from art to crafts to quilts to sculpture. We taught ourselves and each other that being creative was a wonderful way to thrive in the world. I have used that wisdom my entire life, sharing the art I have created at local art festivals and coffee shops, displaying it in galleries regionally and internationally, and through online venues.

I no longer sell my work. The world seems full enough of stuff, and I prefer to focus on creating rather than marketing in the digital era. This space is simply a way for me to, hopefully, brighten someone's day and offer them a moment of peace and hope. Be well. Be happy. Thrive!
